CHS Fundraising Need for New Church Home – June 2010

We have been blessed with a lease opportunity that is right on Route 7 on the east edge of Leesburg - the former Shenandoah University campus. It is the highly visible, centrally located, and easily reached facility at 908 Trailview Blvd. This space provides ample room for worship today (185 seats) and plenty of room for growth. It has room for our discipleship programs, youth and children's activities, and nursery. There is space for fellowship, administration, and a Pastor's office. As of July 15, we have raised over $211,000 for this effort. We are still in negotiations leading up to a signed lease agreement.  Please pray for us.  To give online, click here.

Early in 2009, the CHS Vestry set a primary objective of finding space that would be available to us seven days a week, so we could fulfill all parts of our mission.  We sought a space where all age groups, from mature adults to toddlers, could study, learn and be discipled, not only on Sunday, but throughout the week.  We searched for a place where we could minister to each other and to those outside our fellowship.  We wanted a centrally located place to enable community outreach, and a space that would support our growth as the Lord brought more worshipers through our doors. We sought a permanent place for worship without the taxing effort of weekly set-up and tear-down.  We sought offices outside of the Nixon’s home.  Those objectives just weren't fulfilled by any place that we considered - until now!

We have begun showing this space to our congregation, and so far, we have heard nothing but enthusiastic support for this location.  Each member of your Vestry is enthusiastic about the space and believes that it fulfills all our needs today and in the foreseeable future.

This great space comes with some financial challenges that we as a church family have just about overcome.  Typically, build-out costs for commercial leases are amortized over the lease term and paid as part of rent.  We were not given that option.  Because we are a young church, the offer from this landlord is structured so that we must pay upfront for all of the cost of building-out the space to meet our needs.  Then we would then enjoy a much lower and very reasonable rent for the next 7.5 to 13.5 years.  Yes, this means that we have some upfront cash requirements that are fairly steep, but doable, and then monthly rent that would be a modest increase over what we experience today.

Back in December, we set a goal to raise $200,000, and we have now raised over $211,000.  Praise God!   Now (7/10) the Landlord is telling us we may have to pay tens of thousands more to build out the space.  Please give generously and sacrificially.  Please make your check payable to CHS, with "Building Fund" in the memo line. Or, you can use our e-giving option.  Remember, this is a one time investment to build out this facility or one like it, which would provide us with a stable home for the next 10+ years.

Most importantly, please pray.  Pray that we will be able to bring the lease negotiations to a quick and favorable close.

We believe that Church of the Holy Spirit has been blessed to find this space.  It is a location that will provide stability, and will help us grow.  It has what we need to worship, to teach, to learn, to disciple, to evangelize, and to reach out to the local community.  We are praying that God will bless financially each member and attender of Church of the Holy Spirit, providing ample means to support this effort.  We also pray that we will celebrate a new measure of God's grace being poured out on us in 2010.
