Our New Church Home Update – December, 2010
Our first worship service in our new church was November 28, 2010! We were joined by Bishop John Guernsey and his wife Meg for a combination service and work day to put some finishing touches on our new building. What a blessed day!
We have been blessed to obtain a long-term lease that is right on Route 7 on the east edge of Leesburg - the former Shenandoah University campus. It is the highly visible, centrally located, and easily reached facility at 908 Trailview Blvd, Suite 200. This space provides ample room for worship today (185 seats) and plenty of room for growth. It has room for our discipleship programs, youth and children's activities, and nursery. There is space for fellowship, administration, and a Pastor's office. We believe that it fulfills all our space needs today and in the foreseeable future.
It's a centrally located place to enable community outreach, and a space that will support our growth as the Lord brings more worshipers through our doors. This new space is one where all age groups, from mature adults to toddlers, can study, learn and be discipled, not only on Sunday, but throughout the week. It is a place where we will minister to each other and to those outside our fellowship. It's a permanent place for worship without the taxing effort of weekly set-up and tear-down. It includes offices outside of the Nixon’s home.
Our Current Need - Furnishings & Finish Line Fund
Between Dec. 10 and November 15, we raised over $234,000 for this effort. Along with the money we raised earlier, that paid for the build-out of the space. Praise God! This covers basic build-out with no bells and whistles. We have been praying that God will bless financially each member and attender of Church of the Holy Spirit, providing ample means to support this effort. You have been faithful in that so far. Thank you for all your gifts.
Now we need to raise more funds to buy our furnishings and fittings - things like chairs, holy table, tables, and new equipment. You may purchase specific items from the list below. We will need about $70,000 more to purchase what is on this list. Please give generously and sacrificially, above and beyond your tithe. Please make your check payable to CHS, with "Finish Line Fund" in the memo line. Or, you can use our e-giving option.
